Habitat for Humanity of Weber and Davis Counties kicks off their fundraiser for their new Habitat partner family.
Ogden, UT (February 23, 2018) — In an effort to raise funds for a family in need of a new Habitat home, nonprofit Habitat for Humanity of Weber and Davis Counties (HabitatWD) is partnering with the local hockey team on March 3rd, 2018.
Night at the Ogden Mustangs is the 2nd annual fundraiser at the Weber County Ice Rink, starting at 7:30 PM on Saturday, March 3rd. Come watch a thrilling hockey game as the Ogden Mustangs go head-to-head against their rivalry team, the Colorado Eagles. Tickets are $10, unless military or school identification is shown for the discount. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at www.ogdenmustangs.com/tickets/. Proceeds from the tickets are going towards the nonprofit and their building efforts.
In partnership with the Ogden Mustangs, Habitat for Humanity of Weber and Davis Counties hopes to raise funds for the new Habitat partner family. Aurora Guzman is a single mother with six children living in a manufactured home. They are selected as the next Habitat family. A new Habitat home will give this family more space and stability. The Habitat home is planned to be built at 450 15th Street in Ogden by volunteers, donors, and community members.
“We are extremely grateful and proud and honored to be partnered with the Ogden Mustangs. We are looking to break ground in about 3 weeks [for the new Habitat home],” says Executive Director, Jeannie M. Gamble.
At the Ogden Mustangs versus Colorado Eagles hockey game, HabitatWD will have a booth at the front entrance. The general public will be able to make donations directly to materials for the Habitat home, including a new door, windows, shingles for the roof, and so much more. There will be an opportunity drawing for a few gifts at the booth.
In addition, there will be a 1-minute Dash for Cash fundraiser at half-time. The nonprofit will pass down paint buckets, where the crowd will be able to donate cash towards the Guzman family. It is the crowd’s job to pass down the buckets as quickly as possible, donating what they can. The nonprofit wants to see how much they can raise within one minute. Last year at the Night of the Ogden Mustangs event, about $300 was raised within sixty seconds. There will be other games at the fundraiser.
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity of Weber and Davis Counties brings people together to build homes, hope, and communities. The community can come together to watch the Ogden Mustangs while donating to a good cause.
