Thank You March 3rd Donors!
Habitat for Humanity
of Weber and Davis Counties
would like to thank all the donors from March 3rd.
Ogden, UT (March 16, 2018) — On March 3rd, nonprofit Habitat for Humanity of Weber and Davis Counties (HabitatWD) partnered with the local hockey team, the Ogden Mustangs. Night at the Ogden Mustangs was the 2nd annual fundraiser at the Weber County Ice Rink, starting at 7:30 PM on Saturday, March 3rd. Many fans came to watch a thrilling hockey game as the Ogden Mustangs went head-to-head against their rivalry team, the Colorado Eagles. Tickets could be purchased at the door or online at www.ogdenmustangs.com/tickets/. The proceeds went towards the nonprofit and their building efforts.
In partnership with the Ogden Mustangs, Habitat for Humanity of Weber and Davis Counties raised funds for the new Habitat partner family. Aurora Guzman is a single mother with six children living in a manufactured home. They are selected as the next Habitat family. A new Habitat home will give this family more space and stability. The Habitat home is planned to be built at 450 15th Street in Ogden by volunteers, donors, and community members.
Habitat for Humanity of Weber and Davis Counties would like to thank the following donors:
|GROUNDS FOR COFFEE
ON 30TH STREET
|OGDEN WALMART||OGDEN WAYFAIR|
The Grounds for Coffee on 30th Street donated 1 pound of coffee beans alongside an orange mug and $25 gift card. The Ogden Lowes donated a fire pit alongside tools. The Ogden Walmart donate a Radioflyer tricycle. The Ogden Wayfair donated a circular mirror. These donations were contributed to the opportunity drawings.
At the Ogden Mustangs versus Colorado Eagles hockey game, HabitatWD had their booth with different prizes, sponsored by the Ogden Walmart, Wayfair, Ogden Lowes, and 30th Street Grounds for Coffee. The general public also made donations directly to materials for the Habitat home, including a new door, windows, shingles for the roof, and so much more.In addition, there was the 2nd annual 1-minute Dash for Cash fundraiser at intermission. The nonprofit passed down paint buckets, where the crowd would be able to donate cash towards the Guzman family. It was the crowd’s job to pass down the buckets as quickly as possible, donating what they could. Last year at the Night of the Ogden Mustangs event, about $300 was raised within sixty seconds.
This year, $563 was raised with the community’s help.All in all, the fundraiser was a good success and more than $800 was raised for the new Habitat home. Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity of Weber and Davis Counties brings people together to build homes, hope, and communities. The community came together to watch the Ogden Mustangs while donating to a good cause. $800 would be able to buy 6 windows for the Habitat home, to put this in perspective.
