Ogden ReStore Kicks Off Declutter Drive

Declutter your garage and home in celebration of Earth Day!

Ogden, UT (March 21, 2018) — In celebration of Earth Day, the Habitat Ogden ReStore is kicking off their Declutter Drive all month long in April. Spring is coming, which also means that Spring cleaning is essential in most homes. The Declutter Drive is to challenge residents to donate items to the ReStore rather than throwing them into the dump.

In celebration of Earth Day (April 22nd), the Declutter Drive will hopefully bring awareness to residents in Weber and Davis Counties about the nonprofit ReStore. Home improvement Items can be donated to a nonprofit thrift store rather than putting them in the landfill. The Habitat Ogden ReStore offers a free pick-up service for residents in Weber and Davis Counties. This can be helpful for those who have large items, including furniture, appliances, lumber, and so much more. A donation receipt will be given for IRS tax-deductible purposes. Drop-off donations are acceptable from Tuesday thru Saturdays from 10 AM to 5:30 PM.

Ogden ReStore Declutter DriveThe Habitat ReStore is a nonprofit home improvement thrift store and donation center. It is operated and affiliated with the local Habitat for Humanity of Weber and Davis Counties (HabitatWD). The goal is to keep good and working home improvement items out of the landfill. The donated items are sold at a fraction of the cost to the general public. Proceeds from sales go back towards HabitatWD. The funds are used for building and repairing homes for local low-income families in need. The Ogden ReStore is located at 3111 Wall Avenue Ogden UT 84401. Operating hours are Tuesday thru Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM.

For the year 2017, it was calculated that the local Habitat Ogden ReStore diverted over 303 tons of items from the landfill. This is the equivalent to the weight of 30 box trucks.

Items that can be donated include appliances, artwork, building materials and lumber, cabinets, 2013 or newer dishwashers, doors, electrical items, new flooring, furniture, hardware, LED TVs, lighting, new paint, plumbing, tools, and windows. For more information, please visit the site.

Anyone can shop. Anyone can donate. And anyone can volunteer at the local Ogden ReStore. The Declutter Drive will begin April 1st and end on April 30th. You can schedule your free pick-up now or drop-off your unwanted home improvement items today.
